This Cookie Policy explains how Caitlin Kidd (“I”, “me”, “my”) uses cookies and similar technology on https://caitlinkidd.com (the “Site”).
It should be read with the Privacy Policy.

Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help a site remember things, keep it secure, or understand how it is used.
Similar tools can do a related job, for example pixels or local storage. In this policy, “cookies” covers those too.
The Site is a WordPress blog. At the time this policy was written, I use cookies mainly to make the Site work and keep it secure.
I do not currently run a shop, user accounts, or a live advertising network on the Site.
If I later add analytics, ads, embeds, or a newsletter tool, those services may set extra cookies. Where UK law requires consent for that, I will ask before using them.
Strictly necessary
These are needed for the Site to function. Examples:
- remembering a cookie or consent choice
- keeping me logged into WordPress if I am editing the Site
- basic security and spam protection
These do not require consent under UK PECR.
Analytics
These would help me see which pages are read and whether the Site is working. I will only use them if I switch an analytics tool on and, where required, you have agreed.
Functional
These remember choices that are not essential, for example a preference you set. I will tell you if I start using them in a way that needs consent.
These come from other companies if I embed a video, a social post, or run ads. They may track you across sites. I will ask before using non-essential cookies of this kind.
Because the Site runs on WordPress and ordinary hosting, you may see cookies such as:

Exact names can change when WordPress, the host, or a plugin updates. The purpose stays the same: run the Site, protect it, remember a choice.
If I add any of the following, this policy and the banner will be updated:
- Google Analytics or a similar stats tool
- a newsletter platform
- a contact-form or anti-spam service that sets extra cookies
- embedded YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, or other third-party content
- advertising or affiliate tracking
Until those tools are live and listed here, treat them as not in use.
6. Legal basis
For strictly necessary cookies, I rely on my legitimate interests in running and securing the Site, and on PECR rules that allow essential cookies without consent.
For non-essential cookies, I rely on consent. You can say no. You can also change your mind later.
You can:
- use the cookie banner on the Site, if one is showing
- block or delete cookies in your browser settings
- use private browsing
- turn off third-party cookies
If you block all cookies, some parts of the Site may not work as they should.

8. Third parties
If a third-party cookie is used, that company may process information under its own policy. I only use such tools as needed to run or understand the Site, and only with consent where the law requires it.
Some providers may be outside the United Kingdom. Where that happens, I will only use them in a way UK data protection law allows.
Session cookies expire when you close the browser.
Persistent cookies last until they expire or you delete them. Durations vary by tool. Consent cookies are often kept for up to twelve months.
10. Personal data
Some cookies can be linked to an IP address or device. How I handle personal data is explained in the Privacy Policy.
I do not sell your personal information.
11. Children
The Site is for adults aged 18 or over. I do not use cookies to target children.
12. Changes
I may update this policy when the Site’s tools change. The new version will be posted here with a new date.
