About Me

I am not going to start with a job title and a hobby list. That is a dating profile with better lighting.

I write this Site. I do it from Hertfordshire, in a flat that sounds like three lives stacked on top of each other, after work that still expects me to be pleasant on email. My name is Caitlin Kidd. People who have been in a room with me for longer than a night call me Cat. The internet can use either. I will not be precious about it.

I am twenty-five. Five five. Dark hair I do not treat like a project. Brown eyes that clock a sentence before it has finished arriving. I dress like someone who might have a meeting and might also leave the jacket on a chair later. Smart casual, which is a polite way of saying I refuse to look like I am going to a hen do or a tribunal.

The first impression is the bit people remember and then argue with. Smug. Fun. Confident in a way that tips into arrogant if you were hoping I would apologise for taking up the air. I know. I have heard it. I did not build a whole personality around being liked by people who prefer their women a bit quieter once the joke has landed.

I grew up Essex. That stays in the voice even now the postcode has changed. Well spoken enough that the degree shows. Common enough that you hear it when I laugh. Husky, which I did not order and cannot return. I talk faster when I am into something. I am into more things than is convenient.

The Site exists because I got bored of watching women do excellent work in bed and then treat the standard of that work like a secret they should be ashamed of having. I also got bored of men arriving with a full personality in the chat and a spare one in their pocket for after they came. Someone had to write it like a person who has actually been there, not like a brand that discovered the word “intimacy” last Tuesday.

This is not a clinic. I have said that on other pages and I will keep saying it until the inbox understands. I am not going to heal your attachment style. I am not going to mark your boyfriend’s homework. I write about sex and dating because I like sex, I notice patterns, and I am good at putting a sentence where other people put a sigh.

I work as a personal assistant. Yes. The woman telling you not to fake an orgasm also knows how to move a diary without starting a war. People find that funny until they need someone who can do both numbers and tone. I have a degree in maths and English, which is a combination that sounds made up until you watch me add a spreadsheet and then write the email that makes the spreadsheet sound like a favour.

I want the promotion. I want the money more, and I am less shy about that here than I am in an appraisal. Money is the thing I was not supposed to admit. Ambition is allowed if you dress it as “development.” Wanting cash is treated like you have been caught looking at the bill. I looked at the bill when I was six and the house went quiet. You do not forget the sound of a life getting smaller.

My mum died when I was six. I can say it without turning the page into a documentary. It is the fact under the facts. It is why I do not romanticise chaos as much as people expect from someone who writes about casual sex. It is why I like competence. It is why I notice when a man wants the heat and not the person. Absence trains your eye. You start clocking who stays in the room.

I am not going to perform grief for tone. I put the kettle on. I put the telly on. I put music on until the day has somewhere to go. That is how I handle the grim stuff. Not journaling. Not a bath with a quote on the wall. Noise, then a body in the flat that is still mine.

I live with two friends. The walls are thin enough that everyone knows when someone has had a good night and when someone has had a stupid one. There is a politics to milk and bathroom time and who left a charger in the hall. It is ordinary and I like ordinary more than people think. A high sex drive does not cancel the need for a clean mug. If anything it makes the mug more important. You want the rest of the life to hold.

People hear “high sex drive” and decide they have understood you. They have not. It is not a personality. It is a fact that sits next to the other facts, like being good at maths or hating clowns. I like sex. I am not sorry about that. I have been called promiscuous by people who think the word is a verdict. I think of it as a preference with logistics. I am careful about animals, consent, and not turning someone else’s private life into content. I am less careful about pretending I only want sex when it comes with a narrative arc.

That last bit matters on this Site. A lot of writing about women and sex still wants a moral. The good kind of desire, the healed kind, the kind that arrives after three dates and a shared starter. Fine, if that is your taste. It is not a law. Wanting someone and not building a future with them is allowed. Wanting more in bed and not wanting his childhood unpacked at midnight is allowed. Wanting money and promotion and a filthy night in the same month is allowed. I am not going to tidy myself into a lesson.

I am happy on a normal day. That surprises people who only meet the arrogant version. The baseline is good. I like being awake. I like a joke that lands. I like the particular satisfaction of an email sent, a bill paid, a mouth that knows what it is doing. Happiness is not the same as niceness. I can be in a good mood and still tell you the man was boring.

Arrogance, while we are here, is often just refusal. Refusal to shrink the sentence. Refusal to pretend I did not notice. Refusal to laugh at a joke that was only funny for him. I was not raised to be a princess and I was not raised to be grateful for crumbs. Essex girls get called a lot of things when they do not make themselves smaller. I kept the posture. It works in an office. It works in a doorway. It works on the page.

The work of the Site is pattern. App men who write like they have already met you and then deliver a stranger. Men who can talk for an hour and cannot hold a rhythm for two minutes. Men who think asking “did you come?” is the same as staying. Men who treat aftercare like a spa brochure. Women who do the acting career version of sex because peace feels cheaper than honesty in the moment. I have done versions of that. I got bored of the peace. Peace that costs you your own body is just quiet.

I care about direction. Say what you want. Say it early enough that the night can still change. Do it with your mouth, not with a sigh he can ignore. If that sounds bossy, good. Bossy is what they call a woman who would like the useful part of the evening to continue.

I care about listening. Not the performance of asking permission every three seconds until the heat dies. Actual listening. The kind where “don’t stop” means don’t stop. The kind where a hand gets put where it was asked to go and stays there long enough to matter. I have a short temper for men who treat a body like a clip they have already watched.

I also care about leaving. The walk of honour is a skill. Taxi money is a skill. Knowing when the chat was the best part is a skill. Optimism is for opening the app. It is not for coaching a man who has already shown you the whole trick.

You will notice I write about men as confusing. That is not a bit. They are. Not mysterious. Confusing. The difference is important. Mysterious suggests depth. Confusing suggests a wiring diagram that was printed on the inside of the box and then lost. Chatty on the way in. Monk on the way out. Filthy in the DMs. Shy when the lights are still on. Desperate for sex to mean closeness and allergic to the closeness once the sex has done its job. I find it funny because the alternative is taking it personally every time, and I have bills.

The money thing again. I know. It keeps turning up. That is honest. I did not start a Site because I was overflowing with leisure. I like writing and I like being paid for knowing how to talk. Those can live together. If this place ever makes the promotion feel less like the only ladder in the building, good. If it does not, I will still want the raise at work. I am not going to pretend a blog is a personality that replaces rent.

I vape. It is a habit, not a brand partnership. Balcony, cold hands, the little pause between the day and whatever the evening thinks it is. I am not going to write a thousand words on nicotine. It is just there, like the telly in the background and the playlist I put on when the day has been a bit much. Music and television are how I come back down. Sex is how I feel like someone is actually in the room. Those two sentences can sit next to each other without a TED Talk.

Clowns. Fine. I am frightened of clowns. I would rather admit that than pretend I am only afraid of interesting things like failure and the heat death of the universe. Clowns are the line. Do not send me clown content as a joke. It is not a meet cute. It is a block.

I will not hurt animals. That is the other line, and it is not cute either. People who write about sex sometimes get treated as if they have no ethics, only appetite. Appetite is not the same as having no brakes. I have brakes. They just are not the ones a certain kind of reader wants.

What I look like on the page is not a costume I put on after work. The PA version of me is tidier. She knows when to smuggle a correction into a sentence so nobody has to be embarrassed in a meeting. She is good at communication because she learned early that rooms go better when someone can say the true thing without setting the curtains on fire. The Site is where I stop smuggling it. Same brain. Less padding.

I am not mysterious about skill. I like being good at things. Maths. Emails. Sex. The culture only applauds the first two in public and then acts shocked when a woman talks about the third like it is also a thing you can get better at. Of course it is. Bodies are not magic. Attention is a practice. Hands are a practice. Saying the sentence out loud is a practice. I have no interest in being bad at something I do often just to seem softer.

If that reads as smug, we are back at the beginning. Good.

I do not owe the internet a trauma-to-triumph shape. Mum died. I grew up. I got a degree. I got a job. I got a flat with two people who know when I am lying about being fine. I sleep with people I like touching and I leave when the person attached to the body has clocked off. I write it down so I do not have to keep saying it in kitchens.

Essex to Hertfordshire is not a reinvention film. It is a train and a rent difference and a slightly different high street. The voice came with me. So did the habit of clocking class in a room before anyone has ordered. People hear the common and decide what I am for. People hear the well spoken and decide I have betrayed something. I am not doing either performance for long. I will say “proper” and I will also say the long word if it is the right word. That mix is the point. It is also why the writing sounds like a person and not like a committee.

I like men. That needs saying because some readers will want this Site to be a war. It is not. I like the ones who stay in their body after they come. I like a mouth that can do more than recite. I like a man who can hear “slower” without taking it as a review of his whole character. I like competence in a kitchen and in a doorway. I do not like being used as proof that all women are secretly desperate for the same plot.

I like women more than I like explaining myself to men. The posts assume a woman’s vantage because that is the one I have. If you are a man and you are still here, you can keep reading. You cannot have the comments section, because there is not one, and you cannot have a personal tutorial. If a post was factually wrong, tell me the fact. If you just did not enjoy being described accurately, that is a you problem with better lighting.

I am not going to pretend I write from a mountaintop of healed desire. I still open the app with that stupid little hope. I still stay ten minutes longer than the night required because the body was good and the conversation had not caught up. I still catch myself softening a sentence so nobody has to feel corrected. Then I come home and write the unsmoothed version. That is the deal. Live it, then say it.

The honest bit people skip is how ordinary most of this is. The viral version of a sex writer is supposed to be on fire all the time. I have a calendar. I have a supermarket shop. I have a fear of clowns and a promotion I want and a balcony that gets too cold in March. I have friends who steal the good lighter. I have days where the drive is high and the patience is not. I have days where I want telly more than anyone’s hands. That is still me. The Site is not a highlight reel of strangers. It is the notes app after the kettle.

If you are looking for a soft goddess voice, you have walked into the wrong flat. If you are looking for a woman who will hate men for sport, also wrong. If you are looking for someone who will tell you that faking it is a kindness, definitely wrong. Kindness that trains him to stop learning is not kindness. It is unpaid teaching with a moan track.

I do not want to be inspiring. I want to be accurate. Accuracy can be sexy. It can also be bleak for a paragraph and then funny again, which is how most good nights work if anyone is telling the truth.

A word on privacy, because the About page is where strangers decide they know you. You do not. You know the sentences I chose. You do not know the two friends by name. You do not know the men. You will not get them. I can write about a type without filing a person’s passport number into a paragraph. If you write to me with someone else’s screenshots, I will not become your witness.

A word on work. The PA job is not a cute detail I will shed when the blog gets big. It is the life. It trained the part of me that can hold two truths at once: be pleasant, be precise. It also trained the part that knows when a room is lying. You would be amazed how often a meeting and a first night use the same script. Everyone is performing competence. Someone is hoping nobody asks a follow-up question.

I ask the follow-up question.

That is why the posts get specific. Vague writing about “connection” is how you avoid saying he changed pace when it was working. Vague writing about “standards” is how you avoid saying you came home and opened the app again. I would rather be blunt and stay useful.

Useful does not mean universal. If a piece does not fit your body, leave it. Taste is allowed. That is one of the whole points. Have sex like you have taste, not like you are trying to pass an exam he set in 2019.

I am not a brand yet and I am trying not to sound like one. Brands say “join me on this journey.” I am going to work, then I am going to write, then I am going to sit on the balcony and look at my phone like a normal idiot. If you want a journey, there are hiking blogs.

What I can offer is a voice that does not flinch when the subject is filthy and does not get stupid when the subject is money, grief, or a Tuesday. I can offer jokes that are not a shield so much as a way to keep the blood moving. I can offer the particular Essex habit of saying the thing and then carrying on with your drink.

If you take one thing from this page, take this: I am not confused about what I am doing. I am a woman with a job, a flat, a drive, a dead parent in the foundation, and a low tolerance for men who think the scene ends when they do. I write because the alternative is muttering it into a vape cloud and hoping the group chat remembers.

You can read the posts. You can link them. You can write to the form if you have something short that belongs to the Site. You cannot have a private seminar. You cannot have my friends. You cannot have a version of me that is sorry for being good at the thing I came here to talk about.

That is the about. Not a mission statement. A person in Hertfordshire with brown eyes, a maths degree, a dirty sense of proportion, and no intention of sanding that down so it photographs better.

If you came here looking for a softer woman, she is on another site, probably telling you to light a candle. I will be here talking about the moment he went quiet, and why that is funnier than it is tragic, and why you should still ask for the hand in your hair anyway.

Then I will go to work in the morning, because the promotion has not approved itself, and the kettle does not care how good the sentence was.
